As of Friday the 13th, my father is dead. He was at his friends' house here in Austin, walking to the car, when he just suddenly collapsed. From what I've heard, he went peacefully and without suffering. I can only pray that that's true. I said my goodbyes sometime around 2 AM this morning. And mom's a train wreck. I only ask that you guys pray for me. I fear I don't have the strength to support just the two of us, and already the depression is setting in.

The hardest part is knowing that I'm going to go home and he's not going to be there to tell me "hello" or say goodbye to me in the morning or tell me he loves me. He was my best friend. And now he's gone. But even through all that, I know he's in a much better place. He's where he's always wanted to be and known he was going to be. At least, with that, I can sleep peacefully.
